|  | Page, AZ. Construction of Glen Canyon Dam started in 1957, primary purpose is water reservoir, secondary purpose is recreation, and third is power production. The nearby coal burning Navajo power plant produces 3x more power (!). With 8 year drought, the lake is only 47 % capacity. The water is 100 ft below normal!
The river trek was great. The temperature wasn't too bad, in the shade, it was cold though. The water temperature was 47 degrees. Try not to fall out of the boat, :)
It was very difficult to show you the immense size of the canyon surrounding the river. It ranges from 800 to 1400 ft. above the river.
