Hey guys,
This is my consolidation project. Combining photo sharing and blog (still keeping my blogspot space though).
The photo sharing part is working out well, I like the format, although the EXIF info is not displayed at this time.
Well, enjoy!

Little Colorado River Gorge in B&W

The entrance fee is a measely $2 per car. The only thing I wish is that there's a longer trail along the rim, maybe in the future. On State Road 64 (from Cameron heading towards Grand Canyon East Rim), look for Scenic Overlook sign.

<img src="http://bp1.blogger.com/_SXU2VEFePx8/SE8jh6FVURI/AAAAAAAAIBk/385IbMb7kZc/s320/A1050647.JPG" border="0" alt="" /="">
<img src="http://bp2.blogger.com/_SXU2VEFePx8/SE8jibCMYXI/AAAAAAAAIBs/btfuVnVGb8Y/s320/A1050648.JPG" border="0" alt="" /="">
<img src="http://bp0.blogger.com/_SXU2VEFePx8/SE8ji7JgxPI/AAAAAAAAIB0/kpkt_IgV_hY/s320/A1050657.JPG" border="0" alt="" /="">
It seems like every time I come through here, its in the middle of the day.
Extreme Close-up

I have read about using the reverse lens setup to get really nice macro captures. I finally broke down and bought a reverse ring from Ebay. The way it works is to attach a lens to your camera body, then attach this reverse ring to the lens, just like a filter, then attach the secondary lens to the ring, reversed, as it is front-element to front-element configuration. Of course, your lens thread must match, I am using 49mm to 49mm reverse ring. The second trick is that the outer lens must be wider than the lens mounted on the body, otherwise, you picture will end up with a tunnel effect. I am using two 50mm lenses.
<img alt="" src="http://bp0.blogger.com/_SXU2VEFePx8/SEm5htfDp8I/AAAAAAAAH84/StqJpr_vT9k/s320/IMGP9435.JPG" border="0" /="">
Sample 1, uncropped. This little grasshopper is less than a centimeter long, so I am getting pretty good close-up on this thing.

<img alt="" src="http://bp0.blogger.com/_SXU2VEFePx8/SEm5iB4RF4I/AAAAAAAAH9A/1p0cbWVWXAM/s320/IMGP9449.JPG" border="0" /="">
Cropped - but from another image I took.
Merging 2 pictures.

From the collection of pictures I obtained from recent photo club day trip, I found a few that're more dramatic if I cropped them to be "panoramic". But when I tried to print them, no matter what I tried, it only prints in the middle of my 8x10 paper, one picture at a time, too wasteful.
Calf Branding, and Others.....

One of our photo club member made an arrangement with Babbitt Ranch, for club member to stop by and have a photo shoot while they're branding calves. We met around 7 in the morning, then just a quick 20 minute drive on 89 North, turn in at Wupatki loop. We weren't sure how the weather would turn out, since it has been cold and wet (rain and snow.....), but it actually turned out to be a very nice day.
<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_" alt="" src="http://bp0.blogger.com/_SXU2VEFePx8/SDjbNCqyseI/AAAAAAAAHRk/dr4FfKbHKrw/s320/DSC_5956.jpg" border="0" /="">
In this corner, the cows.

<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_" alt="" src="http://bp2.blogger.com/_SXU2VEFePx8/SDjbNiqysfI/AAAAAAAAHRs/nF9_gdOmib0/s320/DSC_5972.jpg" border="0" /="">
And this corner, cowboys ready for work.

<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_" alt="" src="http://bp2.blogger.com/_SXU2VEFePx8/SDjbNiqysgI/AAAAAAAAHR0/TJ1U5RrlN_Q/s320/A1241016.jpg" border="0" /="">
It was interesting work, and I imagine that it was painful for these little guys - especially the boy calves, they had to undergo an extra treatment besides branding. We were in and out of the pen while the cowboys worked, but cattle didn't charge at anyone. <img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_" alt="" src="http://bp3.blogger.com/_SXU2VEFePx8/SDjbNyqyshI/AAAAAAAAHR8/rqL9wFYstC4/s320/DSC_5986.jpg" border="0" /="">
It was serious work, and club members really enjoyed the outing. After the branding, the cowboys herded them across the ranch, went under 89 under a tunnel, well, one of them got away and decided to cross over 89 instead of the tunnel, it briefly stopped traffic, but it w...

Blue Ridge Reservoir

Looks like a neat spot, so a quick search on internet points me to somewhere near Payson/Mogollon Rim region. When I asked around in our photo club, people mentioned it is a really neat place to visit, but it is not really accessible in Winter time, as the roads are usually not cleared in Winter time, and it is rough forest road.

There appears to be 2 ways to get to the lake. I chose the shorter route (less forest road driving): From Flagstaff, take south on Lake Mary Rd, turn left on 87 (Heading towards Winslow). Go about 5 miles, you'll see NF751, and a big sign for Blue Ridge Reservoir, turn right. Then another 4.5 miles, you will get to the parking lot, restroom, and a small boat ramp. If you continue on NF751, you can reach the Dam. You will need a high clearance vehicle, as the road gets pretty rough after the restroom facility. There were large boulders in the middle of the roads, and in some...

Upper Lake Mary

Lake Mary consists of 2 lakes. Upper and lower. Lower is really just there to catch the run-offs. This time last year, Lower Lake Mary is nothing but grassland, but this time, its more of a wetland, with lots of people fishing. The lake was created by the Riordan family, they owned lumber mill in the Flagstaff area. The lake was named after one of their daughters.

Picture above is from Upper Lake Mary, very full. I am surprised that there wasn't more people on the lake, maybe most people run up to Lake Powell (2 hours away), I read in the paper that the authority are expecting Lake Powell to be 63% capacity by end of Summer (it was 48% last year), that's good news.
Now the lake is fairly full, I am surprised how big this lake actually is.

Sailing in Upper Lake Mary. Creek level is low, but flow is steady. Many people enjoying the nice sunny day, out and about. But remember, getting in and out of Sedona this time of year means you have to deal with traffic, lots of it.

Oak Creek.

Church with a view.

Glen Canyon Dam, Colorado River tour.

Page, AZ.
Construction of Glen Canyon Dam started in 1957, primary purpose is water reservoir, secondary purpose is recreation, and third is power production. The nearby coal burning Navajo power plant produces 3x more power (!). With 8 year drought, the lake is only 47 % capacity. The water is 100 ft below normal!

The river trek was great. The temperature wasn't too bad, in the shade, it was cold though. The water temperature was 47 degrees. Try not to fall out of the boat, :)

It was very difficult to show you the immense size of the canyon surrounding the river. It ranges from 800 to 1400 ft. above the river.

Cameron, Page, AZ

This is a landscape photo pilgrimage.
Page, which is established in 1957 (when Glen Canyon Dam was built), has really wonderful scenary. The Horseshoe Bend, Slot Canyon (Antelope Canyon), Glen Canyon Dam, and Lake Powell.
It is about 120 miles north of Flagstaff, and the drive up is really nice. You get to see part of Painted Desert with dramatic Bad Land looks, and cinder hills along the way.
